Due to the advent of the 3rd era of medicine and social change, the interest and demand for mental health services is increasing. Simultaneously, the healing power of art is also drawing attention.
Dance/movement Therapy is a form of art psychotherapy which integrates the body, mind, and spirit through physical movement.
Since the introduction of dance/movement therapy to South Korea in 1992, its scope and demand have gradually expanded.
The Korean Dance Therapy Society was first established in March of 1993 and in 2000 it became registered through the Academic Promotion Agency as a Korean Society of Therapy. Then in December of 2004 it was officially approved by the Health Policy of Seoul City under the Ministry of Health.
